LB36 Changes Death Penalty from Electric Chair to Lethal Injection

Introduced by Speaker Mike Flood of Norfolk, Nebraska -District 19

LB 36 was passed and signed into law by Gov. Heineman on May 28, 2009.

Synopsis:
LB36 would change the method of execution in Nebraska from the electric chair to lethal injection.  This change is required due to rulings by the US Supreme Court and Nebraska Supreme Court holding that electrocution is a form of cruel and unusual punishment.
