LR6CA & LB266 Allows slot machines “Racinos” in Nebraska
LR 6CA & LB 266 Allows slot machines “Racinos” in Nebraska
Introduced by Sen. Russ Karpisek of Wilber, Nebraska - District 32
Synopsis of LR6CA:
LR 6CA would authorize a total of 3500 slot machines to be apportioned between seven horse tracks in Nebraska. Communities with horse tracks would be allowed to “opt-out” of having the slot machines.
Revenues generated from the slots would be allocated to various interests, including the State Highway Trust Fund, local municipalities, and development of the horse racing industry. Specifically, supporters claim there would be about $80 million for road repair and construction.
Supporters of LR6CA admit that if slots are allowed at horse tracks, Indian reservations would able to operate “slot barns” on reservation property. The grand total of slots authorized would thus be considerably more than 3500.
